"When are you starting a podcast?" my friend asked this January.
"Goodness, no clue." I shrugged. "I don't know that I really want one... maybe one day?"
Jesus is the funniest person that I know.
Fast forward to March, I was deep into nearly eight weeks of bed rest. My plans for the past two months had exploded in my hands. Podcast appearances postponed for hospitalization. Work trips on hold. And my plans to create a year's worth of content in my spare time were lost to migraines aggravated by screen time.
But one person asked if they could be a guest. And my friend Blake had mentioned that she thought we should re-record an Instagram live we had worked on together. And so, I began a journey that looks likje a lot of things for me... a familiar path.
I call it, "stepping stone path."
The next right step just appears in front of you. And so, gingerly, I stepped.
And I ordered a podcast mike from my good friend Jeff Bezos (Amazon is sadly a first name basis in this household of faith.) And I called Blake. And I called about five other people. And I got ahold of a video editor.
And I recorded Season One in two weeks.
The way this thing came together was miraculous. And the theme was one I wouldn't have chosen... but it's the one that came out of my mouth.
When I sat down to record my episode, the one linked in this Substack, I was clear that I shouldn't have a plan... and what I started talking about surprised me.
I talked about how I don't like being in process, but how process WITH God is more fruitful than anything else has been in my life.
And how perfection keeps us from moving forward on what God has asked us to do.
And how the fruit of the journey leads to unexpected locations.

And let me say... the show won't be us serving dessert, as my friend who nudged me to start it would say.
This moment is one with deep meaning for us all... we are crossing over, from glory to glory.
But glory rarely looks like a glory. It looks like a mess. It looks like a journey. It looks like process.
but process is all about Who you do it WITH.
